Service Description

Over the course of three two-hour sessions, The Robotics Summer Camp aims to provide an introduction for the kids to the world of robotics, mechanics, electronics, and coding. The camp is conducted and organized by Dr. Su Shruthi, Prof. Jim Tanaka and the DMA team. Su Shruthi is a Robotics and STEAM Educator with a PhD in Robotics and several years of teaching experience spanning schools and universities. Our mentors will be there to help guide the kids through the activities and to answer questions along the way! One Micro:bit starter kit will be provided per registration. Components in the kit: Microbit, sensors, motors, battery Session 1 (11th Aug; 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM PDT) - Introduction to robotics - Basics of mechanical design - Microbit coding - Activity/project Session 2 (18th Aug; 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM PDT) - Quick recapitulation of previous session - Introduction to sensors and UN-SDG - Microbit coding - Activity/project Session 3 (25th Aug; 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM PDT) - Final Activity/project Note: 1. One Micro:bit starter kit will be provided per registration 2. It’s beginner level, so no prior knowledge in robotics, mechanics, electronics or coding is required. Everything will be taught from scratch.
